Home What Does PTSA Do?

What We Do

At a high level (national and state level), the mission of the PTSA is threefold:

• To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;

• To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and

• To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

At a local level (Lincoln Elementary PTSA) we have a specific mission...

This year, the Lincoln Elementary PTSA is dedicated to raising funds to support para professionals in the classrooms and to building a stronger Lincoln community.

  • Para Funding:  Due to DPS budget cuts, we have already seen a dramatic reduction in para staffing.  Last year, each of the 1st - 5th Grade classrooms had 3 hours of para time per day.  This year, they only have 45 minutes.  Our goal is to get us back to last years staffing as quickly as possibly.  In order to accomplish this, we need to raise over $50,000 - which is more than twice the amount we made last year.  We need everyone's help to achieve this goal.
  • Lincoln Community:  The PTSA will be holding more than half a dozen events this year to help build a closer community.  The goal of these events is to get to know each other better and to provide free, fun entertainment for Lincoln students, parents, teachers, and neighborhood businesses.

This years fund-raisers will focus primarily on efforts where 100% of the money will come directly to the school.
