September 2025 PTSA Community Meeting Minutes

PTSA Board & Budget Overview

  • Board Leadership: Stacy Berger (President), Amy (VP - final year), Christina (Treasurer), Erick (Secretary)

  • 2024-25 Goals:

    • $116K direct school investment ($100K general + $16K classroom support)

    • 50 member target (currently at 43)

    • $202K fundraising goal (up from last year’s $200K+ success)

  • Reserve Fund: New $100K emergency fund established in 6-month CD earning interest

Budget Approval

  • Proposed Income: $197,051 from fundraising, donations, dues, other revenue

  • Proposed Expenses: Reclassified into teacher support, community events, overhead

  • Key Changes:

    • $15K staff appreciation moved to income/expense tracking

    • $10K additional for Bash (venue change from free brewery)

    • Colorado PTSA dues increased by $0.25

  • Motion passed: Budget approved unanimously

Major Fundraising Events

  • Laps for Lincoln (Next Friday):

    • $50K goal (up from $45K last year)

    • $150 per student target, $3,500 per classroom

    • Kickoff assembly tomorrow, event next Friday

    • Still need announcer (Laura Carson unavailable)

  • Bash (April):

    • Venue scouting needed immediately

    • ~175-200 person capacity required

    • Need video producer for promotional content

    • Childcare coordination being explored

Volunteer Opportunities - Leadership Roles

  • Board Elections (April): President and VP positions open

  • Fundraising Support:

    • PIE sponsorship coordinator (business outreach/renewals)

    • Links experiences coordinator (2x yearly programs)

    • Restaurant night support (Andy Gonchar transitioning out)

  • Event Leadership:

    • BASH committee members

    • Bike rodeo coordinator (May event, 3 volunteers signed up)

    • Summer family engagement coordinator

Immediate Volunteer Needs

  • Coffee on Blacktop next Friday (coffee pickup/treats)

  • Teacher dinner catering Oct 9 (conferences - order/pickup/setup)

  • Laps for Lincoln setup and day-of support

  • Fence decoration installation (5-foot “Lincoln Lynx” letters)

Community Programming & Advocacy

  • Ballot Initiatives (November):

    • Proposition LL: Yes vote (return $12.5M to Healthy School Meals)

    • Proposition MM: Yes vote (extend free breakfast/lunch program)

    • Initiative 310: Yes vote (retain Denver flavored tobacco ban)

  • Educational Programming Ideas (from community input):

    • Cell phone/social media safety for kids

    • School safety protocols and lockdown procedures

    • Technology safety and AI awareness

    • Teacher support systems and special needs resources

Upcoming Events & Dates

  • October: Laps (4th), Movie Night (17th), Fall Fest (25th), Restaurant Nights

  • November 12: Next PTSA community meeting
