Speech Services @ Lincoln

Emily shared this note in a recent ledger. As a PTSA, we wanted to share this on our blog as well to provide additional visibility to anyone wanting to advocate for our school in regards to Speech Services. In addition, we will update this post with any community resources for Speech Services families might consider in the interim.

Many thanks, the PTSA

We first wanted to acknowledge that many families were caught off guard regarding the speech vacancy at Lincoln this year. We apologize for any alarm and confusion this has caused and understand families’ concern. I have been in contact with the special education department to have a speech language pathologist placed at Lincoln, as DPS has always provided a speech therapist in the past. I was hopeful this would have been resolved earlier.

We are doing everything in our power to advocate to the district around this issue. We will keep everyone updated on the status of when a therapist will be at Lincoln to ensure our students receive the support they need. In the meantime, parents are welcome to email and call the DPS Special Education Department to advocate for our school.

If you know of any speech language pathologists who might be interested in working at Lincoln, please encourage to them to get in touch with Laci Hatcock at ldearde@dpsk12.net.
